dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the study was to establish the influence of Teacher’s motivation on Teacher’s efficiency in private secondary schools, basing on the objectives of the study attempted as to find out how assigning responsibility to teachers influences teacher’s efficiency in private secondary schools, to find out the effect of remuneration on teacher efficiency in private secondary schools and to establish how teacher recognition affect teacher efficiency in private secondary schools.
The study used three sets of instruments. Open ended questionnaire for 24 Deputy Headteachers, 276 teachers, 24 Directors of Studies and interview guide for 24 Headteachers, the total number of respondents were 324. The study covered 10 secondary schools in Jinja municipality. The researcher used a descriptive cross sectional survey design and both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. The study comprised of teaching staff and head teachers. These were selected using stratified sampling. Findings revealed that there is teacher’s inefficiency in private secondary schools due to lack of motivation.
The researcher concluded that assigning responsibility to teachers influences teacher efficiency in private secondary schools in Jinja District. Remuneration affects teacher’s efficiency in private secondary schools in Jinja District. Teacher recognition influence teacher efficiency in private secondary schools in Jinja District.
The researcher therefore recommended that: The head teachers of private secondary schools should assign responsibilities to various teachers so as to involve them in system which will motivate the teachers. Teachers should be paid in time and according to their qualification as this will also motivate them and make them more efficient. There should be a system of recognizing teachers by checking teacher’s strong and weak areas so as to make them efficient. | en_US |
