    Remuneration and academic staff service delivery in Kyambogo University, Uganda

    Abstract
    The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between remuneration and academic staff service delivery at Kyambogo University. The study was guided by four objectives namely: To establish the relationship between basic pay, employees’ benefits, monetary incentives, and non-monetary remuneration on academic staff service delivery at Kyambogo University. The study was mainly quantitative though involving qualitative approaches. It was cross sectional, involving a number of 191 academic staffs who were purposively sampled. The objectives of the study were tested using Pearson’s correlation Co-efficient Index. The findings of the study revealed a positive significant relationship between basic pay, employee benefits, incentives, non-monetary remuneration and academic staff service delivery at Kyambogo University. It was concluded that there is a positive significant relationship between basic pay, employee benefits, incentives, non-monetary remuneration and academic staff service delivery at Kyambogo University. The researcher recommended that if academic staff service delivery is to be improved at Kyambogo University, Government through the Ministry of Education and Sports, National council for Higher Education, the university council, vice chancellor, staff association should do the following; Ensure that academic staff basic pay is determined basing on the basic pay of other academic staffs in other universities on international scale and given promptly, include benefits in the budget and ensure that they are given to academic staff, accompany high performance with incentives and finally, should ensure that academic staff efforts are recognized and appreciated.
