    Influence of the satisficing decision making model on teacher performance in secondary schools in Mityana District

    Abstract
    This study aimed at examining how the satisficing decision making model influences teacher performance in secondary schools. The objectives of this study were to find out how the satisficing model of decision making is extensively applied in secondary schools under study; the effect of the satisficing model on teacher performance in teaching roles in Mityana district; the effect of the satisficing model on teacher performance in non-teaching roles in these schools; the effect of the satisficing model on teacher performance in teaching roles in these schools. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design, describing the existing relationship between the satisficing model of decision making and performance of secondary school teachers. Qualitative and quantitative data was collected from head teachers, teachers and students in schools under study; using questionnaires and interview guides. The data was analysed using the chi-square and interpreted. The study revealed that the satisficing decision making model is extensively applied during decision making in secondary schools under study; and that it positively influences teacher performance in teaching, non-teaching and administrative roles. The study recommended that decision makers in secondary schools should be educated and encouraged to adopt the model of satisficing when making decisions so as to realize good performance in teaching, non-teaching and administrative roles The identified areas for further research included: influence of the satisficing model on students’ academic performance; and the causes of performance discrepancies in teaching, non-teaching and administrative roles.
