Assessing the effectiveness of police investigation on land disputes in Uganda; case study of Madiopei subcounty in Lamwo District.

Abstract

Land disputes investigations, poor funding, lack of enough human resources, inadequate facilitation. The study revealed fighting corruption in police, offering Police Officers with training in land to solve challenges faced by police when investigating land matters and practical strategies of interest by some police officers. and making the police force independent of influence from government bodies and officials can sensitize and educate community members about their land rights, fresh surveying and land members lacking awareness about their land rights and lack of political will to protect people’s land. The study revealed that there are many factors that cause land disputes which included continuous increase in population, customary land ownership, land grabbing, lack of transparency in land putting in place strong laws and regulations guiding the police in cases of land dispute investigations address land disputes. The study used a cross sectional survey research design and considered both improving the welfare of Police Officers, improving information and communication technologies, managed to respond back. Data was collected using questionnaires and interview guide. of police officers, poor communication and co-ordination when it comes to land matters and conflict to land disputes, the challenges faced by police during land dispute investigations, suitable strategies qualitative and quantitative approaches. The targeted sample size of 65 respondents but 56 registration bodies, Police Officers lose live & others lack enough knowledge and experience in The findings also revealed that police officers face many challenges when investigating land registration, create land arbitration courts at village level, regulating pastoralism activities, educate legal implications against land grabbing, sensitizing the community members on the need to write county Lamwo District. The study was guided by four objectives which included the factors that lead community members on the need to have written agreement when leasing out the land, create strong. This study assessed the effectiveness of police investigations on land disputes in Madiopei Sub pastoralists, lack of land tenure security, weak structures for checking land grabbing, community improve land dispute investigations by police.
