    Abstract
With the emergence of the global economy, cutting costs and better management is a major strategy used by many organizations and this is facilitated by the drive to do work online. There is need for improved security and better management of data to accelerate flow of information, planning and decision-making. The system was developed with realization of the need for improved service delivery in the permit processing department of URA. In this project the researcher developed a system that uses a database approach to manage the large amount of information involved in the processing and management of driving permit information in URA. A database was developed to hold all information required manage the processing of driving permit information. A user interface was developed accessible to both applicants and administrators to enable easy access to information. Capture, manipulation and dissemination of permit information was thus made much easier. Structured system analysis and design tools were used to come up with the new system and all its components. The end product enabled online submission of applications for new permits as well as renewal of old permits. Tracking of expired permit was made easier; improving permit records management as well as efficient and reliable generation of permit management reports.
