dc.description.abstract | The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of diversity in workplace on employee performance in the banking industry in Uganda. This was driven by the fact that organizations are under diversity model of management. The study was guided by the four research study objectives include to determine the effect of education diversity on employee performance, to establish how ethnic diversity influences employee performance, to find out the effect of gender diversity on employee performance, and to identify how age diversity influences employee performance in the banking industry in Uganda.
The study used a quantitative cross sectional research design and primary data was collected using the questionnaire method. Data was analyzed quantitatively using SPSS to generate descriptive statistics which include frequency distribution table, mean and standard deviation.
Results from the findings revealed that there was a positive significant relationship between diversity and employee performance in the bank
It was concluded that the different kinds of diversity do have an influence on employee productivity and performance within an organization.
The study recommended that only when the commercial banks pay more attention to workforce diversity in terms of education, age, gender and ethnicity, coupled with its management, will they reap the maximum performance from its employees that will in turn drive organizational productivity to higher levels. Moreover, diversity within an organization is a key indicator of corporate health of an organization. | en_US |
