dc.description.abstract | The main objective of the study was to assess the Impact of Commodity Markets in Zombo District. The finding from this study reveals that commodity markets have the potential in improving household income, employment generation and stimulating local economic development for improved of service delivery. The gains from the impact of commodity markets can only be sustained when we combat climate change, improve on rural infrastructure like roads, support farmers with agricultural finance and construction of local commodity markets to enhance their competitiveness and expand production for improved earnings. The study recommends that government has to increase per capita allocation to agriculture as per the recommendations of the Maputo protocol. Furthermore extension services have to be boosted with both recruitment of staff and provision of logistics. This will strategy will enable farmers access the much needed agricultural education to improve the production levels and hence widen their income. | en_US |
