    Abstract
This is a report of a project study that was carried out at Mikwano General Hardware at Kalerwe along Gayaza Road in Kawempe Division. It is a Windows Application Information Management System presenting the management of Mikwano General Hardware a user friendly way of keeping track of incoming, sold, remaining stock; daily sales; total daily income per commodity; profit or loss after sales. This solves problems like inefficiency in record keeping and error prone cost distribution among others. To come up with the system, data was collected through interviewing the manager, observing the activities at the hardware premises, it was then analyzed and used to design and implement the system. The system was developed using Visual Basic 2008 and SQL Server 2005. Visual Basic 2008 was used in designing the system interfaces; SQL Server 2005 was to design the system database as well as serving as the system server. The system database stores the Mikwano General Hardware sales records information pertaining to incoming, sold, remaining stock; daily sales; total daily income per commodity; profit or loss after sales. The stored information is displayed in form of reports. The system also manages errors during data entry and processing, has user friendly interfaces for inputting data into the system database as described in the system design and implementation. The report finally ends by giving the recommendations, conclusion and benefits of developing a Sales Record Management System for Mikwano General Hardware.
