This report covers an effort to create a model of a drug record management system that alerts managers on drugs that are about to expire. In the process of research, interviews and literature review were used in data collection. The current drug record management system does not process information about captured drugs and alert managers on their expiration which has led to drug shortage and increased death rates. It was necessary to carry out an investigation on the current drug record management system and develop a model of a system that monitors drugs, alert management on expiry, and let them know when to stock more drugs. The design of the system model was accomplished by putting in place and stating the relevant dataflow diagrams. Entity relationship diagrams were used to show relationships between the entities. Html was used to develop interfaces. PHP was used to process interfaces and connect them to the databases and java script was used for form validation. The model of the current drug record management system has not been alerting managers on the expiration of drugs because its system is partially manual. The manual system does not process information about the drugs. Drugs are got from the stores where they are kept and taken to the stock shelves where they are sold. When expired, they are taken back to National Drug Authority where they are destroyed. Money is paid in order to dispose off the drugs without harming the environment. However, the money paid to National Drug Authority is more than that needed to buy the drugs. People end up getting rid of the drugs themselves which may be harmful to the environment. This study identified the major problems in drug record management and attempted to solve them by developing a model of a drug record management system.en_US
