This study was about the “the effect of leadership behavior on employee’s performance in Luweero District: The case study of Bombo Town Council. The objectives of the study included: determining the effect of supportive leadership behaviour on employees performance; examining how participative leadership behaviour affects employees performance; ffinding out the effect of instrumental leadership behaviour on employees performance and analysing the effect of achievement-oriented leadership behaviour on employees performance at Bombo Town Council. The study adopted a triangulation approach. Triangulation was the combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Quantitative method sought scientific objectivity whereas qualitative method sought to obtain subjective views. The study concluded that supportive leadership behaviour was promoted by the managers at Bombo Town Council through encouragement of innovation among employees, mutual respect; open communication and teamwork. It was also concluded that participative leadership behaviour is promoted at Bombo Town Council through open decision making, promotion of consultations in all areas of the organization and easy information flow from the management to the subordinates. Bombo Town Council encourages Instrumental leadership behaviour, limited monitoring and control of workers, facilitation they give to their staff to perform their jobs, by giving employees certain degrees of authority, through a feed back process for goal orientation. In addition Bombo Town Council leadership promotes achievement-oriented leadership behaviour through influencing employees to achieve goals, facilitation and a feed back process for information on decision making which encourages employees to perform efficiently and effectively. The study recommends that the management of Bombo Town Council should introduce courses that can enable leaders know the type of leadership behaviours that would improve employees’ performance. This can be done through consultations between supervisors and workers; through consensus. It can also be done through delegation of responsibilities to subordinates by the management and also through accurate information flow from subordinates to managers and vice versa. Bombo Town Council should refocus on getting to know the employees capability so that when support is needed in certain tasks employees do not struggle to get solutions. Supportive roles should not only be technical but also social and economic. Bombo Town Council should always carry out an employees’ dynamic assessment exercise whereby factors that could impede employees’ performance can be known in time.en_US
