dc.description.abstract | In the light of Familiaris consortio, the researcher set out to establish the causes of instabilities in catholic wedded families in Buyaga East County.
The deriving motive to this research was; the investigation of the causes of instabilities in catholic wedded families in the above area. It was split into manageable objectives as enumerated: to establish the causes of instabilities, to find out the effects of instabilities in families, to suggest ways of ensuring stability. The situation of marriage is in such a way that; there are separations, quarrels, in extreme cases divorce yet the couples are wedded in the church. Therefore, the researcher was prompted to find out the causes, effects (impact) and possible solutions.
From the topic above, many writers suggest that the causes of instabilities in marriage are issues like, adultery, employments, finances, alcoholism, educational differences, health problems, marriage between relatives, importance, and mixed marriages. Effects such as divorce, depression, suicide, children dropping out of schools, prostitution start cropping up. Such challenges according to the authors could be reduced by dialogue, faithfulness, prayer, forgiveness.
Many respondents in the field agreed that in Buyaga East, marriages are spoilt by adultery, witchcraft, peer groups, Unfaithfulness, barrenness, alcoholism and the results are negative such as; increased poverty, street children, drug abuse, migration in fear, deaths, imprisonment, conflicts, they suggest solutions like; marriage counseling, the involvement of elders in the choice of partners and solving the challenges which come up. The challenges of the marriage institution affect the catholic understanding of marriage, It is intended for; the procreation, mutual support and companionship, the upbringing of children.
From the findings, it is important to note that for the church and society to have couples who are mature in faith and committed with marriage vows, active participation in liturgy, prayer life, intensive pastoral care, family counseling, marriage growth groups, commitment in attending seminars, retreats, regular counseling sessions, open sharing of their challenges, bible reading, joining devotions in the Church, self reliance, and communication in all situations are indispensable for a stable family. | en_US |
