dc.description.abstractInfrastructure projects plays a big role in societies in terms of meeting the development needs of the economy and more so in transforming the quality of life of citizens. The study assessed the factors affecting infrastructure development projects; a case study of KCCA. The objectives of the study were; 1) To determine the factors affecting the implementation of infrastructure projects in KCCA, 2) To establish challenges affecting KCCA in implantation of infrastructural projects, and 3) To identify the strategies undertaken by KCCA to enhance the implementation of projects. The study results and results are presented, analyzed, and interpreted. The study applied quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. The questionnaires were distributed to supervisors, General duty officers, assistant officers and support staff and interviews were conducted with the directors. The study collected data from a sample size of 73 respondents. Data was analyzed at three levels that is Univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The study results indicated that the factors influencing the implementation of infrastructure projects are; procurement process, Interest rate, Inflation, currency exchange rate, price fluctuation, Good governance, Resistance by residents in giving out land and Contractor claims for additional payment. The challenges affecting implementation of infrastructure projects are; Limited financial capacity, lack of research and development, Corruption of procurement and project implementation and Untrained team members. Significant strategies that improve project implementation are; Increase levels of funding to research and development, availing cheap funding options for project execution such as bank loans, enforce laws and regulations keeping an eye on quality. Mean and standard deviation was used to interpret the result. The study recommended that the government should prioritize and increase funding, procurement process should be number one priority and proper policy formulation should be directed to infrastructure implementation.en_US
