Nandago, M.G. (2022). Effect of education on the performance of internal migrants' business in Uganda: a study on small and medium enterprises.
Abstract
The study analyses the impact of education on the performance of internal migrants business in Uganda using secondary data by Center for Basic Research with funding from IDCR for the period October to November 2018 and was nationally representative since it covered all the sub regions that make Uganda. The paper employs a quintile regression approach. The key findings of the study are that post-secondary education has a positive and significant impact on migrant business performance. The study recommends that government should establish a friendly business environment for the migrants so that the cost of operating a business is minimized for example extending credit to migrants. The government should also enhance the legal system that operationalize the activities of migrants such that before one migrates they know specifically where they are locating and the job opportunity to undertake.
