dc.description.abstractThis study analyzed managing strategic retirement in organizations while using Kyambogo University as a case study. The study mainly focused on three objectives: (1) To assess existing retirement benefits and plans at Kyambogo University; (2) To examine the contribution of managing strategic retirement at Kyambogo University and; (3) To evaluate the challenges to developing strategic retirement at Kyambogo University. A case study design with a mixed methodological approach of both quantitative and qualitative nature for data collection and analysis was used during the study. The study population was all Kyambogo university staff and the sample size was 195. Findings revealed that managing strategic retirement is of great value to employees and the major retirement benefit provided included NSSF contribution and staff development scheme and this was revealed that 51.3% of the staff have already applied for midterm access. The major benefits of strategic retirement planning include career development, better standards of living and innovation and harmony at work.
