dc.description.abstract The overarching objective of this study was to identify the major challenges of the centralization of the IFMS at the Ministry of finance, planning and economic development and suggest possible solutions to them. To achieve this objective, the researcher adopted the following specific objectives: to establish the benefits of centralizing the IFMS at the Ministry of finance, planning and economic development, find out the major challenges faced with the centralization of the IFMS at the Ministry of finance, planning and economic development and provide solutions to the various challenges faced with the centralization of the IFMS. The study adopted a cross-sectional approach and descriptive survey design. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed. The study utilized simple random sampling technique and used both the primary and the secondary data. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The data obtained from the questionnaires was sorted using MS Excel. The study findings revealed that IFMS was mainly used to improves the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management processes to achieving timely, accurate financial information. However, the study revealed a number of challenges like poor internet connectivity; slow at responding to commands especially at peak hours of the day; limited cash flows in treasury; bureaucracies; financial resources shortage. The researcher thus suggested a number of solutions ensure transparent information flow. en_US
