dc.description.abstract This project report entails the aspects of construction project and solid waste management practices exercised by the author while part of the construction team during a subcontract of Supply and installation of aluminium and steel doors at Kayunga hospital. It further details the application of project management knowledge areas during project implementation. The knowledge areas discussed at length include solid waste management cost, quality, time and communication management. The project involved supply and fixing of Aluminium and steel windows and doors to various blocks at Kayunga hospital which included Main building, patient wards, kitchen, laundry block, OPD block, guard house, power house and servants quarters The main objective was to develop personal skills and study issues in management of construction projects, collect data analyse and create findings in a logical way. The major lesson learnt was Information flow on a project determines how efficient the contractor can meet his timelines. It is imperative that all project participants are aware of the hierarchy of communication channels. Construction projects involve a diversity of skills that comes from the diversity of professions, specialists and suppliers that are involved in the process from inception to end. Successful implementation of a project can only be achieved with good project and solid waste management practices in place, failure to have proper project management monitoring and control systems can easily result in poor relationships, disputes and cost overruns on a project. en_US
