dc.description.abstract | This study explores the use of instructional media in Functional Adult Literacy programmes of Wakiso District (Makindye and Nsangi Sub-Counties). It is associated with the transformative nature of media and materials in adult instruction. The study is a description of instructional media use and practices. It is intended to find out what instructional media are available in FAL programmes and how they are being used in improving adult literacy, numeracy skills and the competence of the users during instruction. A case study design was used. It also took both a qualitative and quantitative approach. Data was collected from the supervisors, instructors and learners of the FAL programmes using both closed and open-ended questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The findings of the study showed that when instructional media resources are adequately available and appropriately used for adult instruction, learners are in a better position of acquiring literacy, numeracy and functional skills for lifelong learning. This is even better if the users have the adequate knowledge and skills in using instructional media for teaching and learning. It is recommended that the use of Instructional media becomes the centre of focus for the entire FAL programme. | en_US |
