Solid waste management and road maintanance in Bugongi Town Council Sheema District
Abstract
This report comprises of the activities I participated in, carried out and observed while I was on my industrial training from May to October 2020. The events and procedures of the work done and observed were recorded in the daily book and used to compile this report. The works were of, solid waste management, road maintenance and construction projects which helped me to put into practice the learnt knowledge throughout the study course and have some new innovations. The experience were gained are important in two areas which were explained in chapter two as case studies of waste management and roads maintenance and the focus was based on the course outline for report in the course content in relation to experience gained in the field of study. Construction procedures and project management, Experience was gained for management and procedures of construction. Case studies, reviewed the waste management practices to safe guard environment in Bugongi that included Solid waste disposal and best practices, Solid waste generation and minimization techniques Proposal formulation for waste management to various sources. Road maintenance of urban roads with routine manual, Grading and gravelling of Town Council roads helped in advocate for good accessibility and motor able roads. Estimating and cost control, Specifications and bill of quantities were prepared with me practicing and taking part to cost and make valuable project cost controls and management. Like in any fieldwork the challenges were faced and some solutions proposed for onward future handling and actions.
