The Project chosen for this report was the design and construction supervision of Balunywa road by upgrading it to Bitumen standard using low cost sealing method in Iganga District Uganda. It is situated in eastern Uganda. The project was divided into phases with costing of 334,684,501/= and it was mainly for Design with Construction of the road. The report focuses on design and construction supervision of Balunywa road in Iganga municipal council where I played a significant role as a technical person on the project since the services of a consultant were not employed. The report presents my roles in the design and construction supervision against the predetermined project constraints of cost, scope, quality and time. I dealt with variations and change requests on the project to avert scope creep and keep cost in check. I carried out progress evaluation, tracking physical progress against work program, prepared reports, interim payment certificates, inspected materials, approved test results and Contractor’s schemes of works which formed part of the contract document. Chapter One; lays out the introduction, briefly discusses the background of the project, the scope, the funders, stakeholders and Employers. Chapter two covers procurement whereby the items were advertised to attract bids for the supplies as well as evaluation of the bidders to come up with the best-evaluated bidders for the works. Chapter three covers the project implementation. Chapter four covers the project design preview where existing information concerning the type of structure, the design philosophy and safety measures are considered. Chapter five covers Operation and Maintenance. Chapter six discusses the challenges encountered during the Design and implementation, lessons learnt. Chapter seven covers recommendations and conclusion.en_US
