    Abstract
The main purpose of the study was to develop an online voting system for Makerere University students' elections. In order to achieve this goal, a thorough system study and investigation was carried out on the existing voting system through the use of questionnaires and personal interviews in order to discover its strengths and weaknesses. The data collected was then analyzed using SPSS; document analysis and data flow diagrams. The user requirements and the functional requirements gathered were then modeled using Entity relationship diagrams during the conceptual and logical design of the system. The system was successfully implemented and tested for data integrity and validation and was able to realize the objectives of the research project. PHP scripting language was used to implement the interface and Microsoft SQL Server to create the database.
