Land acquisition is an important process before any infrastructure can be put in place as it provides the necessary land on which projects are to be carried. In Uganda different Government and private organisations engage in land acquisition in various parts of the country. GIS is currently being incorporated in various organisations for their day to day activities but has not yet been incorporated in the land acquisition processes. This has led to delays in these land acquisition activities and the overall project completion time leading to increased costs in the long run. In this project, GIS was used in the land acquisition process, through creation of databases providing complete landowner information, as well as providing a platform through which information can be easily shareable among the different users both in office and in the field. Different queries were also carried out on this data for easy and fast retrieval of necessary information.en_US
