dc.description.abstractThe Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is promoting the development of oil seeds value chains in West Nile, Northern and Eastern Uganda, and production of oil palm in Kalangala and Buvuma Districts. This initiative is called the Vegetable Oil Development Project Phase 2 (VODP2), and is in line with the National Development Plan and Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Program. The overall goal of this project is sustainable poverty reduction in the respective areas by providing farmers with seeds to increase vegetable oil production. MAAIF is also constructing structures to compliment the realization of the VODP2 objective. These include inputs stores, offices, staff quarters and latrines. This report highlights the objective and author’s involvement in the preconstruction and construction stages of the above mentioned project. The author documents the application of different project management techniques employed in the successful running of contracts and challenges encountered in the process.en_US
