Uganda is a primary destination for refugees seeking a safe haven from their war torn homes. Some of these refugees seek accommodation in urban centers were they can scheme a source of livelihood away from the camps. The UN agency for refugees estimates that half of the 10.5 million refugees worldwide live in urban centers like Kisenyi Kampala where the study was conducted. These urban refugees put pressure on the already existing overburdened resources and thus creating competition for these resources. The purpose of this study therefore was to examine the social economic conditions of Somali refugees living in Kisenyi a Kampala suburb. The study was library based and it employed the social liberalism theory. The study also sought to identify the challenges that are hindering the realization of social economic conditions, the relationship between refugees and these social economic conditions and to also examine the negative impact of refugees on the host communities.en_US
