A project report submitted to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Information Technology of Makerere University.en_US
The poor communication of services to customers and poor capturing of their orders has drastically resulted into inefficiency in service delivery as well as narrowing the market for restaurants. At Busy Melissa restaurant, services are advertised to the public by use of brochures and orders are captured by use of telephone or physical movement to the restaurant. This project was aimed at studying the existing system, analyzing requirements, designing and implementing a new system that would communicate the restaurant services to the public so as to capture potential clients and allow them to login, order for food or book for extra services. This provides quality, convenience and efficient food delivery or catering services to customers. In order to achieve this goal, a thorough System Study and investigation was carried out and data was collected through interviewing and observation. The new system was designed using entity relationship diagrams and data flow diagrams. In addition, the implementation of the system was done using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and HTML. Sample data from Busy Melissa was used to test and validate the system. Among others, the system helps customers to view and book available services as well as order for food online. It could be enhanced further to cater for online payment.en_US
