Utilizing web-GIS in the development of online platform ecotourism in the National Forestry Authority
Abstract
Web GIS is the process of designing, implementing, generating and delivering maps on the World Wide Web by combining both the advantages of GIS and the internet(Pispidikis & Dimopoulou, 2015). While tourism has historically been dependent on the character of the destination, including attractions, forests and resorts. The project aims to develop an online web-GIS platform for disseminating information in detail, accessible at any time, and anywhere about the existing attractions, digital maps and additional information for attracting potential tourists and tourism service providers to the eco-sites. The product was locally customized and focused on NFA eco-sites with associated data. The project was successfully developed as a valuable online interactive visualization for tourists and service providers capable of providing spatial and non-spatial tourism information an area for future improvement.
