dc.description.abstract | This project report contains details of construction of Residential Apartments on Plot 13,
Nalubbaale Street, Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, Masaka City. The report focuses on
construction project management and contract administration, but also details the activities
carried out during the implementation process.
Construction activities, tasks in every project phase are only achievable by adhering to the
project documents and by adequate supervision. This is much needed due to the millions of
laborers working directly and indirectly within the Uganda’s construction industry most of
them work as unqualified, unskilled and untrained laborers. As a result, extra coordination and
supervision is surely needed to ensure good project delivery.
Chapter One describes the background and introduction of the project, its objectives, scope and
other project details like the contract sum, duration, scope and the different stakeholders. This
chapter also definitely states my involvement on the project as manager/supervisor.
Chapter Two covers acquisition and execution of the works including the process of procuring
the Contractor, construction activities and processes, project management and contract
administration aspects of the project. The different tools and techniques used in the actual
construction that took place on site are discussed in this chapter, right from initiation stages,
substructure, through finishes. The project management techniques employed to manage time,
cost and quality are also discussed in detail. This chapter also discusses the Health and Safety,
HIV/AIDS aspects on the project.
Chapter Three discusses the challenges encountered during project execution of this report.
Some of the challenges were at company level while others were at project level. The solutions
proposed to address these challenges and lessons learnt are also discussed in this chapter.
Chapter Four details conclusions during execution of the project based on my participation in
this project. Additionally, recommendations are also made on how future projects can be
successfully implemented based on the lessons learnt during the training. | en_US |
