dc.description.abstractThe Construction of the Feedmill Extension at Grainpulse Mukono was awarded to Togo Construction Company limited, evidenced by the signing of the contract on 1st December 2020 at a contract price of UGX 750,907,944 (Seven hundred fifty million, nine hundred seven thousand, nine hundred forty-four shillings only), inclusive of taxes. The execution of this project commenced by officially handing over the site to the Contractor, whose main objective was to deliver the civil and structural works towards the Construction of the Feedmill extension at Grainpulse Mukono. This was done by clearly outlining the scope of work which was used to prepare a work schedule for work execution. The scope of work as well guided in determining the project timelines for delivering the works. The construction methodology employed was also clearly noted as further elaborated in the chapters. Various construction management strategies were as well laid down in line with the specified conditions of the contract, to meet up with project constraints of time, quality, risk, and occupational safety. Different roles and responsibilities were further re-echoed to all parties involved in the contract as per clause 3, which guided the execution of the various work tasks. The author of this report was employed as the Site Quantity Surveyor, as well as Safety Officer, towards the Construction of the Feedmill extension at Grainpulse Mukono. She was engaged in the preparation of the project work program and motoring it during the execution of works, besides the measurement of works done, which were used for preparing valuations of work. The author was as well assigned the responsibility of managing workplace safety during the execution of work. The author thereafter expresses her success in executing the project by outlining the number of lessons learned among which included the spirit of teamwork, even though the execution of works had its achievements and shortcomings. The achievements are attributed to the highest level of teamwork demonstrated, whereas the shortcomings arose beyond anyone’s expectations like the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, inadequate contract documentation, poor communication, and force majeure. The report comes to a close by spelling out the recommendations and conclusions to better the management of construction works ahead.en_US
