    Abstract
The study was carried out in Nyeikunama neighborhood which is located in Muhanga Town Council. She started as a small trading Centre. With time it has developed and expanded gradually into its present status. It is continuously developing whereby developmental changes are acknowledged in the area on a daily basis. However, as the neighborhood developed, this has resulted into various challenges such as informal developments in the area which have limited accessibility and connectivity. More so these informal developments have been set up in the road reserves limiting space for pedestrian movement. This required an intervention to create spaces admirable and usable by the local people with every service located within a 5km walkable distance. Data was collected in the area and analyzed as presented to come up with a planning vision and goal to guide the future development pattern in the area. This culminated into planning proposals in the zoning and detailed plans which were operationalized by the strategic plan which shows the actual details of placement of each activity and the pattern of development is set. In conclusion, an implementation framework coupled with monitoring and evaluation strategies were provided in order to achieve a livable neighborhood
