dc.description.abstract | Project management practice on the construction of a maternity ward at Kabahango Health Centre Grade II in Buheesi Subcounty - Bunyangabu District. This study provides a brief review of the construction project management practice exercised by the author and the methodology aspects during the construction of Maternity ward structure and other supportive structures at Kabahango Health Centre II in Bunyangabu District. The main goal of the study was to examine empirically how production is managed and controlled in order to eliminate any chances for failure in the implementation schedules as they are planned. The work scope comprised construction of a maternity ward, out patient’s department, 4-stance latrine with 4 bathrooms, incinerator, placenta pit and land scaping. Construction methodologies and project management basics that were used were observed and witnessed by the author as a project manager and explained in details. The report discusses on of similar project, their perspectives for planning, managing and control in construction, theory approach of strategy-as-practice, interactions and negotiation of multiple actors and the situated practices. How the past project were being managed and quality controlled. This was attributed to the use of "fast tracking" techniques and specialist trade contracts. The communication management in construction as an imperative domain within the project management body of knowledge. It also discusses the project management principles in depth including the acquisition of works, construction activities and processes, project management and contract administration aspects of the project. The project management techniques employed to manage time, cost and quality are also discussed in detail. The challenges encountered during project execution and possible solutions. Inexperience in handling of public infrastructures and unnecessary political pressure and interference are some of the challenges experienced on the project. In the conclusion, it discusses some steps to be deployed in the future and similar projects and recommendations are mentioned to help and improve the project management aspects. | en_US |
