dc.description.abstractThis project report contains details of construction of Mparo Seed Secondary School in Kyembogo Sub County, Kyenjojo District. Kyembogo Sub County is in the north of Kyenjojo Distict and boarders Kagadi district. Mparo seed secondary school is a public institution at a Satellite grid of; Latitude 0050’4.64”and at a Longitude of 30037’18.16”. The report focuses on construction project management and contract administration, but also details the activities carried out during the implementation Process. Construction activities, tasks in every project phase are only achievable by adhering to the project documents and by adequate supervision. This is much needed due to the millions of laborers working directly and indirectly within the Uganda’s construction industry most of them work as unqualified, unskilled and untrained laborers. As a result, extra coordination and supervision is surely needed to ensure good project delivery and the construction of Mparo seed secondary school is not exceptional. Chapter One deliberates the background of the project, its objectives, scope and other project details like the contract sum, duration, scope and the different stakeholders. This chapter also definitely states my involvement on the project as supervisor. Chapter Two covers the project management aspects and literature review. Chapter Three covers execution including the acquisition of works, construction activities and processes, project management and contract administration aspects of the project. The different tools and techniques used in the actual construction that took place on site are discussed in this chapter, right from initiation stages, substructure, through finishes. The project management techniques employed to manage time, cost and quality are also discussed in detail. The challenges encountered during project execution are discussed in Chapter four of this report. Some of the challenges were at individual level, while others were at contractor level, project level and activity level. The solutions proposed to address these challenges are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter five details conclusions during execution of the project based on my participation in this project. Additionally, I made recommendations. Adequate supervision leads to quality job but comes with additional cost for effective supervision. Project supervision covers monitoring, evaluative review, reporting, and technical assistance activities to identify project challenges, ascertain, prepare and recommend solutions in the earliest possible time.en_US
