    Abstract
    This project report contains details about the civil works for upgrading of Kaguta road from gravel to bitumen standard in Kyenjojo Town Council, Kyenjojo District as of December 2021. The report focuses on construction project management and contract administration, but also details the activities carried out during the implementation of the project. Under Chapter One is discussed the background of the project, its objectives, scope and other project details like the contract sum, duration and the different stakeholders. This chapter also expressly states the author’s involvement on the project as an intern contractor’s site manager. Chapter Two covers the project execution including the acquisition of works, construction activities and processes, project management and contract administration aspects of the project. The different tools, equipment and techniques used in the actual construction that took place on the road are discussed in this chapter, right from setting out, through tarmacking. The project management techniques employed to manage time, cost and quality are also discussed in detail. The challenges encountered during project execution are discussed in Chapter Three of this report. Some of the challenges were at individual level, while others were at company level, project level and activity level. The solutions proposed to address these challenges are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter Four details the conclusions drawn by the author about execution of the Kaguta Road project based on the experiences drawn during his participation in this project. Furthermore, the author makes recommendations on how this can be successfully implemented, going forward, basing on the lessons learnt during the internship.
