which the author was the supervisor of the executed works. It is intended for presentation to

Project Management.
Kakooge Town Council is an upcoming urban development situated in the central region of
Uganda, on the southern side of Nakasongola District. It is categorized under the lower local
governments of Uganda which normally get funding from locally raised revenue and also from
government transfers (grants).
A conditional grant was received four hundred million shillings (400,000,000/=) from Uganda
Road Fund to enable the Town Council tarmac small sections of the main network using low cost
sealing technology, however the allocated funds worth could only upgrade up to 580m leaving
200m of a road section and drainage un attended to. In FY 2018/19, a funding worth One hundred
seventy-six Million shillings (176,000,000/=) was allocated to Kakooge Town council to assist
them complete the unfinished works (upgrading community lane and drainage improvement).
The project road is located on the left hand side of Kampala-Gulu Highway where it starts then
traverses through a commercial area which was developed before 2010 and then connects to
Kikadde Lubenge road (previously used as a national road before the construction of Kampala –
Gulu highway). The road is a low traffic road whose terrain is gently sloping with earth road
surface, but the rock type where it traverses is metamorphic rock of Precambrian age and basement
complex systems.
The project objectives were to reduce the long term costs of maintenance, to boost the economic
value of the business structures along the road, reduce dust and have the road motor able
throughout the year.
The project design was done by a consultant; M/s Infrastructure Projects Ltd in association with
M/s Prome Consultants Ltd and Kakooge Town Council (June 2015) | en_US |
