Upgrading of Buwali mixed use neighbourhood in Kyengera town council, Wakiso district.

Abstract

This report is mainly about the upgrading of Buwali Mixed Use Neighbourhood in Kyengera Town Council Wakiso District, it looks at the historical back ground of the area and how the area came into existence.

The designer focused on looking on how to upgrade the area through the design interventions, being it a small neighbourhood in the community it is faced with a number of challenges, like lack of the drainage system, poor solid waste management, the poor road network, the open space in the area lacks most of the facilities like parking.

The project aimed at improving the neighbourhood through planning innervations, zoning and design. The new proposals were made and a strategic design produced, new roads/ circulation was improved within the neighbourhood, the health centre III was upgraded to health centre IV, a residential area was proposed, a commercial centre was also proposed in the neighbourhood and an existing play ground was a bit modernised with a pavilion, hockey and basketball ground with parking facilities.
