Upgrading of Hoima-Butiaba-Wanseko Road (111km) to paved (bituminous) standard.
Abstract
This project report contains details about my involvement in the civil works of upgrading of
Hoima-Butiaba-Wanseko road(111km) to paved(bituminous) standard as a Construction Engineer
with the UNRA Inhouse Supervision team the Engineer on the project as of January 2022. The
report focuses on different aspects I participated in; such as acquisition and execution of works,
project management, contract administration among others during the supervision of works and
execution of works by the Contractor. Chapter One discusses the background of the project,
geographic and technical scope, contract data, project details and the author’s involvement in the
project. Chapter Two discusses the acquisition and execution of works by the Contractor, project
management which include time, cost and quality and contract administration aspects of the project
that ranged from communication management, variations and change management, health and
safety aspects, site logistics including the different tools, techniques and methods that were used
to execute the project.
The challenges encountered, solutions and lessons learnt are explicitly discussed at the industry
level, project level and company level in Chapter Three. Chapter Four discusses the conclusions
and recommendations also at the industry level, project level and company level drawn by the
author during his participation in the project.
