dc.description.abstract The study was carried out in Kawempe and Rubaga divisions of Kampala City. The study set out to establish the status of police respect for the right to police bond, find out the attitudes of community members towards police bond and to establish how the conflict of the right to liberty and the right to peace impacts on peace in the community. The study adopted a comparative design and employed both quantitative and qualitative techniques. The study found out that the police was holding suspects for more than 48 hours hence violating their (suspects’) right to liberty by deliberately denying them bond. The study further revealed that members of the community had a negative attitude towards police bond and that the conflict between the right to liberty and the right to peace negatively impacted on community peace and individual’s peace. The researcher makes several recommendations, which include increased sensitization of the community members, increased facilitation of the police for better performance, and revisiting the laws to increase the duration necessary for a police bond. en_US
