dc.description A project report submitted to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Award of the degree of Bachelor of Information Technology of Makerere University. en_US
dc.description.abstract The Report was prepared after conducting a study of the existing Patients’ Tracking System at Rubaga hospital. The aim of the study was to gain a full understanding of the current system in the hospital especially its merits and demerits with an aim of coming up with an automated system that would enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Patients’ Tracking System in Rubaga Hospital. It was found that the existing system in the hospital is manual. Paper forms are used to capture data that is organized in files for storage and later analyzed to produce reports if needed. This kind of system leads to data entry errors, data insecurity, time wastage and high level inefficiencies. To fulfill these needs, we proposed a Patients’ Tracking System. This project describes an automated system that would provide timely capture, storage and retrieval of data, improved sharing of information, improved security of the data and the system will have the intelligence of analyzing captured data to give logic and produce reports. Patients’ Tracking System includes modules for storing patients’ information and receipt generation on arrival after payment of consultation and registration fees to the cashier, medical form generation for the doctors and other reports with timely patients’ information specifically designed for the Hospital administrators to improve their decision making functions. The System was designed to be easily deployed and the simple interface provides a user-friendly interface for the Cashier, Doctor, Hospital administrators and the Systems administrator. The prototyping model was used for systems development and application is supported by Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. en_US
