dc.description.abstract Currently, the students' Guild and other students' leaders' elections in Makerere University are conducted manually by use of secret ballot papers and ordinary tallying. The main aim of this project was to computerize the voting mechanism, by designing a computerized voting system that enables students to log in by use of their student numbers and a system generated user ID so that they can cast their votes. The Returning Officers/Electoral Commission have access rights to auto generate a user ID for a voter by using his/her student number. The voter uses system generated user ID together with his/her student number to log in to the voting system. The system supports Guild, Hall and Hall Speakers' elections. One has to choose from the election selection window, the kind of election to participate in. Students are able to log in to the system, view candidates' names, posts and photos, make a choice and submit votes, then automatically log out. The chairman electoral commission is able to view voters, register posts and candidates, generate and print election's reports and log out when necessary. en_US
