| dc.description | . In this work, the artist looks at women empowerment in terms of education and cultural liberation. He presents a bird flying from the left hand corner of the painting diagonally towards the right hand corner of the painting as a sign of women’s desire to be free and attain their freedom without any limitation. He presents a woman wearing an ear ring in form of a book as an indication that if the empowerment of women is to be achieved, massive affirmative action towards the education of women need to be prioritized. Behind this painting in the right hand corner, stands two women carrying what appears to be baskets of fruits. While the artist is concerned about the economic empowerment of women, the presence of these two women carrying fruit baskets on their heads suggest his belief that the traditionally assigned gender roles, like selling goods in the market need to be set aside and emphasize value added jobs usually dominated by men. Women need to be part of the main labor market of skilled human resource driving economies in Africa. ` | en_US |
