    Abstract
    This study was guided three specific objectives namely, to evaluate the process of public infrastructure identification and formulation in the management of public infrastructure, to assess the challenges of the public infrastructure management, to establish strategies for monitoring and evaluation of public infrastructure The study adopted a cross sectional design which involved a quantitative study approach. Questionnaires were used for data collection. The population for the study comprised of political leaders , civil servants civic leaders and members of the community of Kasese district local government. A convenience technique was used to select the targeted sample size of 55. A response of 48 representing 87. 3% of the targeted sample size. Statistical analysis was carried out and the results indicated that the study variables examined, had significant impact in the establishment and the performance of public infrastructure in Kasese district local government In line with the results of the study, it can be concluded that proper public infrastructure identification and formulation, overcoming the challenges: institutional, social, economic and environmental would lead to sustainability of public infrastructure and super economic growth and development of Kasese. Finally, there is a need for commitment in monitoring and evaluation if the gains of public infrastructure have to sustained
