Abstract
God created the universe and endowed it with all that man requires for his own continued existence. And so, God created man in His own image and likeness to be a co-creator. Due to the consequence of sin, brought about by man’s disobedience and pride, the unity between the human family and their creator went astray; and so, God sent His only beloved son Jesus Christ for the restoration of men to God their creator and the restoration of the unity between humanity (Cf. John 17-23) for a peaceful co-existence as one family in Christ. Moreover, man is an insufficient being created social by nature with a tendency of finding perfection and fulfillment through the assistance of fellow human beings without which, survival in the dynamic world would be a complex reality. As a result of egoism, self-love and greed, man finds himself entangled into a division based on culture, religion, language and the like. This, he cannot keep hidden in himself; it eventually manifests itself in form of different wars and grudges at different occasions. This renders the mission of Christ of unifying the human family difficult. Nevertheless, Matthew 28:19 gives a never dying mission to the Church of spreading the good news to all humanity and to all the ends of the earth of which unity makes a great deal in this mission. Therefore, the Church continues to emphasize and uphold the dignity of the Human person in all circumstances by condemning all that violates the human rights and all that brings about disunity in the human family and so suggests every possible means towards the attainment of peace and unity of the human family as a whole.
