    Abstract
“From the fish market” is a painting that tells a continuous dialogue between several fish mongers regarding the activity they have just finished. The painting presents different fish mongers moving to and from different directions. Much as the fish mongers are united by the process of coming from the market, the gestures of their heads suggest people who are in deep thinking, but appear to be uncoordinated. The presentation of the fish having the same features makes them appear as if they have become an extension of the faces of the fish mongers. The entire painting is very decorative and the artist seems to be drawing inspiration from the kitenge textile design. The colour selection and application puts the artists in the class of the renaissance painters. His colour application is intentional and calculated. The colours are harmonious and appeases the viewer without destructing the decorative patterns that dominate the painting. The circular wheels of the motorbikes in the foreground gives the work a sense of physical stability
