Construction of theatre block at Warr HC III in Warr Sub County Zombo District Local Government
Abstract
Practical exposure and application of theoretical knowledge is vital for holistic learning. This report is a compilation of practical application of knowledge of construction project planning and management in managing of a contract at a district local government involving a number of stakeholders. The narrative provides an insight into the various stages of project implementation that the student participated in right from project conceptualization, through other preconstruction activity such as preparation of solicitation documents, evaluation and award of contract. The report on the construction phase entails scope executed, cost, time and quality control measures applied as well as a description of environmental and social safeguards employed during implementation. Whereas the report is written for purposes of fulfilling an academic requirement, it provides useful insight into the challenges and constraints of implementing projects under the local government settings, a tracing of the possible roots of the challenges and proposals for remedies. Attached as appendices are useful computations for unit rate development, bills of quantities and drawings that were used in implementation. These appendices coupled with the detailed narrative provide a comprehensive and coherent report on implementation of a typical project under local government setting.
