    Abstract
This study aimed at establishing the correlates of the turnover of administrative staff at Makerere University. It was guided by three study objectives which related job satisfaction, supervisor support and organizational commitment respectively to staff turnover. This study was a cross sectional survey and co-relational in design. It was a study with quantitative aspects. The sample comprised of 85 administrators from the Senate and Main Building of Makerere University. Data were mainly collected using a self- administered questionnaire which was quantitative in nature. Data were analyzed using percentages and other descriptive statistics especially means and ranges. Pearson’s linear correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to correlate job satisfaction, supervisor support and organizational commitment respectively with staff turnover. The findings revealed that none of the independent variables job satisfaction, supervisor support and organizational commitment significantly related to staff turnover. It was thus concluded that job satisfaction, supervisor support and organizational commitment had very little impact if any on administrative staffs’ intention to leave/ stay. The recommendations are that: Makerere University should not attach much emphasis on job satisfaction, supervisor support and organizational commitment policy practices as a correlate of administrative staff turnover and/ or staff retention. Other factors should be considered as correlates of the turnover and/ or retention of administrative staff.
