dc.description.abstractThis study offers a brief review the construction methodology and aspects of construction project management practice exercised by the author while part of the Procurement and supervision of the contractor and consequently the work scope that is being performed under a Ug.Shs 1,949,557,600 contract between Bunyangabu District and Prutaz Construction and Vocation Training Centre to construct Kiyombya Seed Secondary School in Kiyombya Sub county, Bunyangabu District under the UGIFT project. The work scope comprises construction of 3 2-classroom blocks, Administration blocks, 2 Unit Science Block, ICT and Library block, Multipurpose hall, 3 no. Staff houses with 2 stance latrine 2-unit kitchen for staff, 2 No. 5 stance latrines for boys and girls as well as PWD, 2 stance Latrine for admin. Construction methodologies and project management basics that are used and / or witnessed by the author as the project manager are explained at length. Project Management principles discussed in depth include cost, quality control, time and information flow management between the stakeholders. The report throws light on how the contractor makes applications of payment up to the stage of the Project manager issuing a payment certificate. Inexperience in handling public contracts and unnecessary political pressure are some of the challenges experienced on the project. The report concludes with the steps that have to be performed for a project to be completed successfully. Recommendations are made that have to be addressed for project management to be improved in Uganda.en_US
