This study employed a mixed-methods approach to investigate the factors that influenced the adoption of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) at Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET). The study was grounded in specific objectives, including the examination of factors influencing HRIS adoption, identification of barriers faced by UWONET, and assessment of the perceived effects of HRIS on organizational performance. Utilizing questionnaires and interviews, data was collected from 30 participants to explore organizational size, budget constraints, integration with IT systems, compliance with legal requirements, and data security considerations. As a result, both random probability, which involves equal chances of participants being chosen in the study, and purposive sampling methods were used to sample the participants. Findings highlighted pivotal factors and barriers such as an unstructured technological culture, lack of skills, and financial constraints. Despite challenges, the study observed a consistently positive perception of HRIS's effects on organizational performance, emphasizing streamlined processes and employee empowerment. Recommendations stemming from the findings include resource allocation for comprehensive training, technological infrastructure enhancement, financial analysis, cultural initiatives, and compliance monitoring. Collaboration with NGOs and governmental bodies was proposed for industry-specific guidelines supporting HRIS adoption in non-profit organizations.en_US
