dc.description.abstract The electronic patient system strives to achieve its goal of improving quality of health care with increased efficiency and accuracy by providing a Web-based, database driven system designed to meet the needs of the medical personnel to document, summarize, and view a patient‟s health record that is relevant to their treatment. This record takes the form of a chronologically ordered list of episodes that include diagnosis (es), the treatment(s) he or she has undergone, and the corresponding response(s) to the treatment. The current system of recording, retrieval and updating patient data is manual. It is a hectic, gruesome and time wasting process. This project was implemented using Java, JSP and Servlet technologies together with MySQL as the Relational Database Management System. The electronic patient system provides a more integrated and efficient way of handling patient‟s data. This includes the flow of patient related information between departments and institutions. The users of the system should be able to capture all the patient‟s information and retrieve it accordingly. en_US
