dc.description.abstract | This research paper meticulously explores the modalities of land purchase loans among the youth in Kampala District, with a specific focus on the practices of Centenary Bank. The study navigates through the intricate web of financial behaviors, socio-economic implications, and challenges encountered by the youth in accessing and utilizing land purchase loans. This is by means of delineating the research problem, objectives, and significance, highlighting the pivotal role of land ownership in socio-economic stability and empowerment, especially among the youth demographic. Through a comprehensive literature review, the study situates itself within the broader academic discourse, exploring global and regional trends in land purchase financing, youth economic behaviors, and the socio-cultural implications of land ownership. A case study approach is employed in the research methodology, utilizing quantitative data collection methods, specifically questionnaires, to garner insights from the youth in Kampala District. The findings, presented and interpreted, unveil a myriad of factors influencing youth participation in land purchase loans, such as land appreciation potential, flexible repayment terms, and peer influence, while also highlighting significant barriers such as prohibitive interest rates, lack of credit history, and stringent collateral requirements. The empirical findings are then woven into the existing literature, revealing a complex yet opportunity-rich landscape where land purchase loans emerge as both a beacon of hope and a source of challenge for the youth. Despite the hurdles, these loans are identified as crucial mechanisms for economic upliftment, providing immediate capital access, facilitating entrepreneurial ventures, and ensuring housing security among the youth. The study offers pragmatic recommendations for financial institutions and policymakers, such as designing youth-tailored loan products, intensifying financial literacy campaigns, and strengthening collaborations for transparent land ownership processes, aimed at enhancing the accessibility and utility of land purchase loans.
This study, therefore, not only augments academic understanding but also propels forward the policy and practice realms related to youth financial behaviors and land purchase loan modalities in urbanizing districts like Kampala. | en_US |
